According to the expert, the main reason for the rise in gas prices is the actions of Gazprom.
“In general, everything that happens was predicted back in the fall. The main reason for the unprecedented rise in gas prices is the actions of Gazprom, under the guise of objective factors, to escalate gas prices by supporting the shortage in the market,” the expert noted.
Gonchar named Gazprom’s unwillingness to increase supplies to the European market as one of the reasons for the rise in gas prices.
“Suffice it to recall the underfilled UGS facilities in Europe owned by Gazprom. This also includes the unwillingness to increase the volume of supplies to the European market, using the available free capacities of the Ukrainian gas transportation system and Yamal-Europe. , this is not the reason for the current situation. After all, Europe was provided by Gazprom, when there was no mention of the first and second Nord Streams. The same Yamal-Europe has been used at full capacity since the mid-2000s, ” expert.
The expert noted that with the onset of cold weather and with a gas shortage, Europe will become more accommodating.
“Now we can clearly trace Gazprom’s calculation, which he didn’t really hide – with the onset of cold weather and with a gas shortage, Europe will become more accommodating, including with respect to Nord Stream 2.
