An exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the Russian Federation is unlikely to happen before the end of this year. Moscow does nothing for this.
This was stated by the representative of certain districts of the Donetsk region as part of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Sergei Garmash on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel.
“I don’t see any actions on the part of the Russian Federation so that this (exchange of prisoners by the end of the year, – ed.) Could happen. Moreover, I don’t see now Russia’s interest for this to happen. Unfortunately, there are very few chances,” – noted Garmash.
According to him, at the moment there is still a small chance that the Russian Federation will decide to show the United States its readiness for de-escalation and will go for a prisoner exchange. At the same time, the Russian authorities have not yet shown interest in this issue.

Moreover, at the last meeting, they once again emphasized that the exchange will take place after a complete comprehensive political settlement of the conflict,” the Donbass representative in the TCG summed up.
As UNIAN previously reported, on December 9, the Ukrainian side initiated an extraordinary meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group to resolve the situation in Donbass.
On December 10, at the talks of the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbass, the Russian Federation rejected proposals to restore the ceasefire and involve representatives of France and Germany in the work of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination.
