This year, almost 17 thousand working Ukrainians underwent rehabilitation treatment after serious illnesses and injuries at the expense of the Social Insurance Fund (FSS).
About it it says in the message on the Foundation’s website. In particular, these persons were sent to rehabilitation departments of sanatorium-resort institutions of their choice from a hospital in-patient department – the Fund finances a full course of rehabilitation treatment for all workers for whom such a need has been determined by the healthcare institution. In particular, this year most of the patients underwent rehabilitation at the expense of the Fund after complications caused by the disease COVID-19.
“According to the operational results of 2021, the FSS ensured the completion of rehabilitation treatment in the amount of 100% of the declared need – the course of treatment was financed for all insured persons in respect of whom the Fund was informed about the need for rehabilitation by healthcare institutions,” the message says.
The FSS drew attention to the fact that rehabilitation treatment on the basis of rehabilitation departments of sanatorium-resort institutions is prescribed to patients after the end of the acute period of the disease and has high efficiency indicators in preventing the onset of primary disability and restoring health after strokes, heart attacks, and surgical interventions.

To undergo a course of rehabilitation treatment, insured persons must have medical indications – the need to continue treatment on the basis of sanatorium-resort institutions is determined by the medical advisory commission (VKK) of the hospital where the patient is staying. The referral for rehabilitation comes from the hospital of the health care institution.
The Social Insurance Fund finances medical rehabilitation in the following areas:
– neurorehabilitation,
– musculoskeletal rehabilitation,
– cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation,
– medical and psychological rehabilitation of ATO participants,
– rehabilitation after surgical interventions on the organs of vision,
– rehabilitation in case of violation of the course of pregnancy,
– other (somatic) rehabilitation (after surgical interventions on the digestive system, genitourinary system, female genital organs).
