The technology for thin and transparent OLED displays has been introduced so far mainly as a concept from LG Display, but still similar panels managed to reach the real world. Recently Korean company revealed a new vision for the role of transparent displays – in shopping malls.
Using transparent OLED screens, the retail business can create what the company calls the Shopping Managing Showcase, it said. NewAtlas. Retailers can arrange their products on shelves and place a transparent panel on or on the shelves that will allow buyers to see the products at the same time as “eye-catching visual content” on the screen.
With such an OLED display, even an entire interactive display case can be made. The panels allow retailers to present visitors with a variety of content – animations, demonstrations, advertisements, brief instructions – anything that could help customers get to know the products and learn about their applications and benefits.
In addition, transparent OLED screens can also be used as “smart windows” for corporate offices. For example, the glass of a conference room can come to life and allow team members to use transparent OLED technology for presentations, video conferencing or demonstration. Thus, participants in a meeting or session can handle interactive content without having to have monitors or projection screens.
All LG Display is expected to demonstrate transparent OLED displays live during CES 2022 in Las Vegas, which is scheduled to begin on January 5. The organizers seem determined to hold the show, despite the fact that many of the big names in the IT industry have refused to send their teams on site.
