COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic will end if inequality in vaccine distribution is ended.
Persistent inequities in drug distribution increase the risk of coronavirus mutation, leading BBC the words of the head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus, said during the New Year’s statement.
The head of the WHO believes that it is worth abandoning narrow nationalism and the accumulation of vaccines against COVID-19.
“Narrow nationalism and vaccine stockpiles in some countries have blown up justice and created ideal conditions for the Omicron variant to emerge, and the longer the injustice lasts, the higher the risk of developing the virus in a way that we cannot predict,” warned Gebreyesus.
In his opinion, “if we end inequality, we will end the pandemic.”
