Despite the bloody Nazi regime, inventions of this era remain relevant today. For example, weapons. Some of the weapons developed in Germany during Hitler’s time continue to be used in the 21st century.
YouTube channel The Infographics Show published a video with 10 Nazi military developments that are still relevant today, at least in terms of design and ideas. Here is a brief description of these weapons:
MP43 (later STG44). Considered the first assault rifle, the MP43 is effective in both long-range and short-range shooting. MP43 has a significant impact on weapons in general. Today, the rifle is still in use (made in the United States), and is also a model for the creation of other weapons, including the Soviet AK-47.
V2. The first ballistic missile. It was a powerful weapon weighing 14 tons. The range of the missile is 200 miles (320 km), and the speed at which it hits the target reaches 3500 miles per hour (5600 km per hour).
Tiger Tank. The German tank weighs 54 tons. There is armor and weapons capable of inflicting serious damage on enemy tanks (drilling holes in them). This design still influences modern tank models.
Panzerfaust. One of the first anti-tank systems. It can pierce the armor of a heavy tank. Panzerfaust has become a model for creating future anti-tank weapons.
Sarin. Deadly gas. The discovery happened by accident when German scientists were looking for a way to destroy beetles. As a result, they discovered a gas that is indeed capable of killing insects, but also humans.
Fritz X. A bomb that hits the target. It can be launched from an airplane.
Jerrycan. Canisters, which were invented in 1937 for fuel distribution. Initially, they were a light steel structure for safe movement on the battlefield. Now a similar model is used in many countries around the world.
ZG 1229 Vampire. Night vision device, introduced in 1939. Attaches directly to the weapon.
Pervitin. It is a drug that makes soldiers more effective. With his help, they become more focused, constantly feeling cheerful and euphoric. Subsequently, drugs have been developed that have a similar effect.
Focke Achgelis FA-61. Created in 1937, this is the prototype of today’s helicopter. True, it does not look like modern models and has two propellers instead of one.
