In Ukraine, the schemes for using various vaccines for the main course of COVID-19 vaccinations have been changed.
This was reported by the press service Ministry of Health.
So, according to the changes, the CoronaVac vaccine from Sinovac Biotech can now be combined with vector (AstraZeneca) and mRNA vaccines (Moderna or Comirnaty from Pfizer-BioNTech). In addition, AstraZeneca vaccine can now be administered after Moderna or Pfizer.
According to the order of the Ministry of Health, the following schemes for using various vaccines are possible:
- the first dose of inactivated vaccine (CoronaVac / Sinovac) + the second vector (AstraZeneca) or mRNA (Pfizer, Moderna);
- first dose of vector vaccine (AstraZeneca) + second mRNA vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna);
- first dose of mRNA vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna) + second dose of vector vaccine (AstraZeneca).
The interval between inputs for all schemes is 28 days.
The same regimens can also be used for an additional or booster dose.
Also, the National Technical Expert Group on Immunization recommends that women who receive the first dose of CoronaVac / Sinovac vaccine and then become pregnant use the vaccine on a different platform for the second dose. Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccines should be preferred. The minimum interval between doses is 28 days.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ministry of Health allowed a booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine not only for medical workers, but also for people over the age of 60, regardless of which vaccine they were vaccinated.
People aged 60+ can receive a booster dose 6 months after the date of the second COVID-19 vaccination, optimally in the period from 6 to 9 months. The advantage of vaccination will be given to m-RNA vaccines – Moderna or Comirnaty / Pfizer, regardless of which vaccine the person was vaccinated with.
As a reminder, you can sign up for vaccination today at your family doctor or by calling the contact center of the Ministry of Health 0 800 60 2019. You can find out more about vaccination at vaccination.covid19.gov.ua.
