The shipment will take place when the Bundeswehr receives back the howitzers from the army overhaul program.
Germany has announced that it will send four more Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts and ammunition to Ukraine. The equipment will be sent as soon as the Bundeswehr discusses with the industry the speedy return of howitzers, which were sent to the army overhaul program.
The relevant information was received from the press service of the German Ministry of Defense.
“Despite its own difficult financial situation, the Bundeswehr will provide Ukraine with four more artillery guns – Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers, with an additional ammunition package. The delivery will become possible after discussion with the industry of the issue of the prompt delivery of repaired guns from the army overhaul program and will begin immediately,” said in the official statement.
German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht also spoke about the new military assistance for Ukraine. According to her, this technique will help our country defend itself against Russian aggression.
“Ukraine has been very praising this system and has expressed a desire to receive more howitzers. To further support Ukraine in its courageous fight against the brutal Russian invasion, Germany will fulfill this request and provide four more such self-propelled howitzers,” Lambrecht said.
The Minister of Defense also noted that after the new delivery, the number of Panzerhaubitze 2000 that Germany sent to Ukraine will increase to 14. And if you add howitzers from the Netherlands, then in general there will be 22 pieces of equipment.
Recall that today, September 19, Ukraine received two Mars II MLRS and 50 Dingo armored personnel carriers from Germany. And over the previous two weeks, Germany delivered 9 additional Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery mounts. Their number in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine has increased to 24 units.
