As part of the exchange, 215 Ukrainian warriors-heroes were released. The exchange took place in Turkey.

“215 hero warriors are free. These are the military, police, national guards, border guards, troop fighters, customs officers, civilians. Among them are officers, Heroes of Ukraine, defenders of Azovstal.
In particular, 118 servicemen of the National Guard, 9 police officers and 9 border guards were released from Russian captivity,” the message says. It notes that among the released were also 10 foreigners who fought for Ukraine and were threatened with death.
“Ukraine has exchanged its heroes for 50 Russian citizens and a person with a Ukrainian passport – Viktor Medvedchuk,” the Interior Ministry said.
At the same time, it is noted that on behalf of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov took part in the exchange process. The report says that the exchange took place in Turkey.
As UNIAN reported, on Wednesday, September 21, 215 people were returned from Russian captivity. The Office of the President reported that 200 defenders of Ukraine were exchanged for a people’s deputy, one of the leaders of the Opposition Platform for Life and the godfather of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Viktor Medvedchuk.
Also, 10 foreign soldiers who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine were released from Russian captivity. It is noted that it was possible to return those who were “sentenced” to death in the so-called “DNR”.
In addition, five commanders were released (Azov, Denis “Redis” Prokopenko, Svyatoslav “Kalina” Ponomar, Oleg Khomenko, the 36th brigade – Sergei “Volina” Volynsky, and the 12th brigade of the NGU Denis Shlega).
As President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted in his video message, among those exchanged there are those who survived the terrorist attack staged by the Russians in a colony in the occupied Olenevka in Donbass.
