This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Subcommittee on State Budget Expenditure Lesya Zaburannaya, reports Ukrinform.
“We must adopt it (the law on the state budget – ed.), we must win and then move on to politics again. Now we hope that the parliament will be consolidated and quickly adopt the budget in time,” the people’s deputy said.
According to her, next year’s budget is uniquely unique because it is a war budget. A record-breaking amount will be directed to the army, to maintain the country’s defense capability. At the same time, social standards will not be worsened.
“Negotiations on additional funding for our budget can only take place when this document is available. Therefore, we need to adopt it as soon as possible and work to look for additional sources of funding,” Zaburannaya believes.
Recall, the Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on September 13 approved the draft law on the State Budget of Ukraine for 2023. The priority of the project is the security and defense of Ukraine. UAH 1.13 trillion (almost 50% of the total budget) should be allocated to finance this sector.
The second priority of the project is social programs. Thus, it is planned to allocate more than UAH 800 billion for pensions, subsidies, assistance to low-income families, payments to internally displaced persons, healthcare and education costs, which is 35% of all expenditures in the draft budget.
All other expenses will be reduced. The main savings item is a decrease in spending on public authorities by UAH 11.6 billion compared to 2022. In particular, it is planned to reduce the number of officials, cut salaries and bonuses, with the exception of law enforcement agencies.
