Number. “I’ll go to the rescuers – I will help people.” You help … You put on a protective suit, dig. Through fatigue, through dust and inexpressible sadness. One after another, more than a hundred men, women, children. Our duty is to help every victim that the Russian plague put into this mass grave. Help so that relatives can bury their loved ones, and their souls finally find peace “, – write the rescuers.

Mass killings in Izyum
The enemy established temporary control over the city in early March, and from April 2, Izyum in the Kharkiv region was completely occupied. As a result of intensive shelling by the invaders, the city’s infrastructure was destroyed, as well as 80% of residential buildings. For several months, the locals lived under conditions of intimidation and terror, without electricity, water or gas.
On September 10, the city was liberated from the invaders by Ukrainian defenders. The loss of this important settlement was the biggest defeat for the Russians since they were driven out of the Kyiv region in the spring.
The Russians are known to have killed and tortured civilians in Izyum. For half a year of occupation, according to local authorities, more than 1,000 local residents died. According to Ombudsman Dmitry Lubintsey, in terms of the scale of people killed by Russian invaders in Izyum, their number is twice as large as it was in Bucha in the Kiev region.
After the liberation, 7 cemeteries were discovered in the city, where civilians and soldiers who died as a result of Russian aggression were buried. Among those killed are women and children, sometimes entire families. 99% of those killed with signs of violent death. During the exhumation of bodies in the forest, where the dead were buried by the occupiers themselves, 11 bodies were found that were so mutilated that it was impossible to establish their sex. Those killed had ropes around their necks, broken limbs, gunshot wounds, and amputations.
The symbol of the tragedy in Izium was a photograph of the hand of a murdered man with blue and yellow bracelets. It belongs to a soldier of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade “Cold Yar” Sergei Sova, who was considered missing since April 19, he was searched for 5 months, but to no avail.
