The situation in the Kharkiv region – what you should know
In early September, the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to actively liberate the settlements of the Kharkiv region from the invaders, which the enemy captured at the beginning of a full-scale invasion of our country, which began on February 24.
As of the middle of the month, about 300 settlements were liberated, the Ministry of Defense reported that the operation would last until the complete liberation of the Kharkiv region.
Now the settlements in the Kupyansk and Izyum districts of the region remain occupied, the regional centers – Kupyansk and Izyum – have already been liberated from the invaders.
After the liberation of Kupyansk, the Russians continue to shell the city. In particular, on September 21 in Kupyansk, as a result of enemy shelling, 5 people were injured, including a 13-year-old boy.
In the liberated settlements in the Kharkiv region, numerous torture chambers were found, where the Russian military mocked Ukrainians, and mass graves with hundreds of dead.
In particular, 7 cemeteries were discovered in Izyum, where civilians and soldiers who died as a result of Russian aggression are buried. Among those killed are women and children, sometimes entire families. 99% of those killed with signs of violent death. During the exhumation of bodies in the forest, where the dead were buried by the occupiers themselves, 11 bodies were found that were so mutilated that it was impossible to establish their gender. Those killed had ropes around their necks, broken limbs, gunshot wounds, and amputations.
On September 23, the exhumation of bodies from mass graves in Izyum in the Kharkiv region was completed. 447 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians were raised from the ground. Subsequently, two more burials were found.
