A1 supported the traditional programming competition at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (FMI) of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” – FMI Codes 2023, which took place from March 17 to 19 under the motto “Code for entertainment”. The company is a gold partner of the event.
Metodi Mladenov, manager of the “ICT services and software development for A1 Group” team in A1 Bulgaria, was a member of the jury and presented a special award to the “Maniacs” team, which won first place with the “deBug” project. The basis of the project is an online game in which between 4 and 7 players participate, all of whom work on certain tasks (simple Python functions), and one of the participants tries to sabotage them.
Four students in the first year of the “Software Engineering” major at FMI participate in the winning team. All of them received special technology awards from A1. Metodi Mladenov extended an invitation to them to participate in the A1 Summer Academy.
The fifth edition of A1’s initiative to support young people at the beginning of their career path will take place from July to September 2023. Within three months, it is attended by talented pupils and students who have shown a distinctive performance during the career forums of the universities and the initiatives of which A1 is a partner. They have the opportunity to test their theoretical knowledge in practice and in a real business environment under the guidance of mentors, working on key projects for the company.
In addition to the four participants in the first-place team, 17 more students who showed excellent performance during the hackathon received an invitation to participate in the A1 Summer Academy.
Support for the career start and professional development of young people is among the important goals for A1, and that is why two of the leading software engineers in the “Information Technologies and Digital Transformation” department of A1 – Bogomil Tabakov and Ivan Vasilev – participated in the FMI hackathon.
Over 100 participants divided into 22 teams took part in the traditional hackathon organized by the Faculty Student Council at FMI this year. They developed team projects under the guidance of mentors. Within 48 hours, the students had to create an author’s project on the topic set by the organizers using various technologies.
