Odious lawyer of Kiva Alexey Shevchuk did not pass the selection to the High Council of Justice – the decision of the Ethics Council

The Ethical Council does not recommend the lawyer of Ilya Kiva Oleksiy Shevchuk before being appointed to the position of a member of the High Council of Justice by the President of Ukraine. According to the members of the council, he does not meet the criterion of professional ethics and integrity – thus Shevchuk is eliminated from the competition in the VSP. The Ethical Council under the High Council of Justice (HCJ) has announced the list of candidates who are not recommended for the next stage of the competition for the position of a member of the HCJ from the President of Ukraine.

“The Ethical Council also made a decision regarding candidates who do not meet the criterion of professional ethics and integrity for holding the position of a member of the Supreme Council. These are: A. A. Govoruha; E. S. Demenkova; … A. A. Shevchuk,” the statement says.

According to the Anti-Corruption Action Center, Aleksey Shevchuk repeatedly unsuccessfully participated in competitions for positions in government bodies. In particular, he: did not go to the Higher Antikorsud due to lack of the necessary experience; withdrew from the competition for the position of head of the National Police; did not become a member of the NABU Thunder Control Council, because of which he filed a lawsuit against the UAC; dropped out of the competition for the position of director of NABU.

As previously reported, the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of the Kyiv Region Bar has suspended Alexei Shevchuk’s lawyer’s certificate for violating the rules of lawyer ethics and insulting his colleague Masi Nayem. In response, Shevchuk hinted at the disability of Nayyem, who lost one eye at the front while serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, calling him a “pirate”.
