Russian offensive on Bakhmut almost stopped: British intelligence explained why
However, the Russian occupiers shifted their operational focus to Avdiivka and the Kremennaya-Svatovo sector.

The Russian offensive on the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region has almost stopped. This is primarily the result of the extreme attrition of Russian troops.
About it informs British Ministry of Defense, citing intelligence data. They note that Ukraine also suffered heavy losses during the defense of the city.
British intelligence believes that Russia’s problems have intensified due to tensions between the Russian Ministry of Defense and Wagner PMC mercenaries, whose representatives are fighting in the Bakhmut direction.
“Russia has shifted its operational focus to Avdiivka, south of Bakhmut, and to the Kremennaya-Svatovo sector in the north. These are areas where Russia is likely only seeking to stabilize its front line,” the report said.
British intelligence notes that the shift in Russian attention to other areas indicates a general return to a more defensive operational plan after inconclusive results from their attempts to launch a general offensive since January 2023.
War in Ukraine – news
As UNIAN reported earlier, a day earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said that the situation in the Bakhmut direction is being stabilized thanks to the titanic efforts of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia is focusing its main efforts on offensive attempts in five directions. Over the past day, on March 24, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 59 attacks by Russians in the Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky, Maryinsky and Miners directions.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that now the Avdiivka direction is one of the hottest on the front. However, thanks to the actions of the Ukrainian military, the invaders are “running out of steam” and are already attacking the city many times less.
