VAKS confiscated the assets of a Russian deputy

The panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court satisfied the administrative claim of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine against a Russian deputy for the confiscation of his assets on the basis of paragraph 1-1 of the first part of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions”.

This is stated in the message on the website of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court.

As they say in the message, by the decision of the court, the assets belonging to the defendant or in respect of which the defendant exercised rights identical to the right to dispose of them were recovered to the state’s income. This is part of the land; House; non-residential buildings; vehicle; corporate rights.

An appeal may be filed with the VAKS Appeals Chamber within 5 days from the date of the announcement of the decision.

The head of the sanctions policy department of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Inna Bogatykh, specified on Facebook that it was about the confiscation of the assets of the Russian deputy Leonid Babashov in connection with the ratification of agreements with the so-called LPR and DPR and laws aimed at legalizing the annexation of Crimea.

In April 2022, the US Congress passed a bill on the confiscation of Russian assets to help Ukraine.

On May 20, 2022, Zelensky proposed creating a mechanism for the confiscation of Russian assets in favor of Ukraine. The President proposed the creation of a special fund to pay compensation to all Ukrainians who suffered from Russian aggression.
