The owner of the WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF heavyweight belts Oleksandr Usyk can fight against the mandatory contender for the WBA title Daniel Dubois.

Promoter Frank Warren said that the British boxer has recovered from his injury and is ready to fight the Ukrainian. The functionary noted that negotiations on the organization of the battle have already been scheduled.

“We sent the WBA medical confirmation that Daniel is healthy. Negotiations were scheduled. If you remember, the WBA said that if we do not agree on the Fury-Usyk fight by April 1, then Dubois is the mandatory challenger. We are engaged in this, we are negotiating.

Do I believe in the victory of Dubois over Usyk? Why not? Daniel lost to Joyce, but by the time the fight was stopped he was ahead on the judges’ notes. Joe was outstanding then, he boxed very well. Dubois then won the WBA Regular, defeated Bryan in the USA. Daniel was seriously injured in the duel with Leren, but still performed well then.

I like Usyk, he was an amazing fighter at heavyweight. He moved up in weight and defeated Joshua, who performed poorly against Ruiz. Alexander defeated Anthony twice but was not fantastic against Chisora. And Dubois is definitely stronger than Derek. I think he is capable of defeating Usyk, otherwise we would not have organized the fight, ”talkSPORT quotes Frank Warren.

Recall that Oleksandr Usyk planned to fight for the title of absolute world champion with the owner of the WBC belt Tyson Fury.

It was expected that the Fury-Usyk fight would take place on April 29 in London, but the teams could not agree on all the terms of the contract for the fight.

The promoter of the Ukrainian Oleksandr Krasyuk previously spoke about the reasons for the disruption of the battle between Usyk and Fury. The functionary also said that the next opponent of the Ukrainian could be regular WBA champion Daniel Dubois.

Daniel Dubois fought his last fight on December 3, 2022. Dubois defended his belt against South African Kevin Lerena and won by knockout in the third round.

In the pro ring, the Briton had 20 fights, in which he won 19 victories (17 by knockout) and lost once.

Oleksandr Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua by split decision. In total, the Ukrainian has 20 wins in 20 professional fights.
