A member of the Spiritual Cathedral of the Holy Dormition Lavra, Archimadrid Avraamy (Lotysh) himself turned to Metropolitan of All Ukraine Epiphany with a request to approve him as part of the OCU.
The website of the OCU notes that Abraham was accepted into the brethren of the Orthodox Church and has already been appointed to act as the vicar of the Lavra instead of Metropolitan of the UOC-MP Pavel.
Separately, Abraham appealed to the brethren of the UOC-MP with a call to recognize “the new canonical reality of the existence of a local Orthodox Church in Ukraine” and remain in the OCU.
Epiphanius also appealed to the government with a request to provide premises for the use of the Lavra for worship, accommodation for the brethren and monastic activities.
Metropolitan Epiphanius expressed the hope that the state would help protect the governor and the monastery from possible provocations by supporters of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The eviction of the UOC-MP from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra – what is known
The monks of the UOC-MP are evicted from the Lavra after established evidence of a violation of the lease agreement by the Moscow Patriarchate in the use of state property.
At the same time, the UOC-MP states that they are under pressure from the authorities and do not want to leave the premises.
The agreement between the administration of the reserve and the MP was concluded during the presidency of Yanukovych and allowed Moscow priests to use all the temples and premises free of charge.
The OCU called on the clergy of the UOC to convert to the Orthodox Church.
