Ukrainians answered whether to start negotiations with Russia to achieve peace
As the sociological survey showed, the proportion of citizens who are convinced that negotiations with the Russian Federation should be conducted only after the expulsion of its troops to the borders as of 1991 has increased.

72% of Ukrainians believe that now it is not necessary to start negotiations with Russia to achieve peace.
This is evidenced by the data of a survey conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from February 22 to March 1, 2023.
According to the survey, compared to September-October 2022, the proportion of those who believe that negotiations should already be held has become even smaller (13%), while those who disagree with this have increased to 72%.
In September-October 2022, 17% of respondents believed that negotiations with Russia are “an effective way to achieve peace, which should be used now,” and 64% did not agree with this.
Today, southerners (26%) are more likely to start negotiations with Russia now, while in other regions this point of view is supported by 6% to 15%. At the same time, in the southern region, a relative majority (46%) opposes this (in other regions – an absolute majority – from 68% to 85%).
The Razumkov Center notes that there are also fewer those who agree with the judgment “negotiations with Russia should be conducted only after its troops have been pushed to the line of confrontation as of February 23, 2022” (a decrease from 21% to 18%), and from 60 % to 65% became more of those who do not agree with this.
At the same time, there are more of those who believe that “negotiations with Russia should be conducted only after the displacement (withdrawal) of its troops to the borders as of 1991” (57.5% and 61% agree, respectively, 22% disagree, respectively). and 21%).
At the same time, it is the southerners who, more often than residents of other regions, agree that “negotiations with Russia can only be started after its troops have been pushed out to the line of confrontation as of February 23, 2022” (28%), and in other regions – from 13% to 19%.
According to the poll, those who believe that “negotiations with Russia should be conducted only after the expulsion (withdrawal) of its troops to the borders as of 1991” make up the majority in all regions (from 56.5% in the south to 65% in west).
How the survey was conducted
The sociological service of the Razumkov Center conducted a survey within the framework of the MATRA program funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine.
The face-to-face survey was conducted in 22 regions and Kyiv. At the same time, in Zaporozhye, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson regions, it was carried out only in those territories that are controlled by the government of Ukraine and where hostilities are not being conducted.
2020 respondents over the age of 18 were surveyed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%. At the same time, additional systematic deviations of the sample may be due to the consequences of Russian aggression, in particular, the forced evacuation of millions of citizens.
