Military expert Oleg Zhdanov called the “ideal” number of Western combat aircraft, which would help the Armed Forces of Ukraine to carry out military ground operations “without problems”.

“I heard figures – 100-120 aircraft. Some called even more,” he said.

According to him, with such a number of aircraft it would be possible to equip 5-6 brigades.

“Then we would have complete air supremacy, and the issue of a ground offensive would not be a problem for us. We would solve it with fewer forces and with the least losses. But this is ideal,” the expert noted.

As UNIAN reported, Yury Ignat, a representative of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the MiG-29 aircraft that Ukraine receives from partner countries, although they are important for waging war, will not allow them to gain air superiority. To do this, the Ukrainian military needs more modern aircraft – for example, F-16 fighters.

Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba also noted that the provision of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine would not lead to an escalation, but would allow Russia to be contained, and this is proved by the weapons previously transferred by the allies to our country for protection. Then the partners also said that this could provoke an aggressor.
