Iran and Russia strengthen the alliance: they agreed to build a railway
This railway will connect Russian ports on the Baltic Sea with Iranian ports in the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf.

Russia and Iran signed an agreement on the financing and construction of an Iranian railway line as part of the implementation of the North-South international transport corridor.
According to Reuters, the signing of the agreement took place on Wednesday via video link, the ceremony was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi.
It is noted that the Rasht-Astara railway is seen as an important link in the corridor designed to connect India, Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan and other countries by rail and sea and, according to Russian authorities, can compete with the Suez Canal as the main global trade route. .
Also, this railway, which will be 162 km long along the coast of the Caspian Sea, will connect Russian ports on the Baltic Sea with Iranian ports in the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf.
Relations between Iran and Russia
Against the backdrop of tightening sanctions, Russia has significantly reduced the rate of missile production. However, she compensates for this with the supply of weapons from Iran. Thus, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that Iran sold more than a thousand drones and other weapons to Russia.
At the same time, in order to avoid Western sanctions, Iran wants to transfer the production of its drones to Belarus.
The WSJ reported that Iran is supplying Russia with hundreds of thousands of artillery shells by sea. Thus, according to the publication, over the past six months, Russian cargo ships have transported more than 300,000 artillery shells and a million rounds of ammunition from Iran to Russia.
