The new part of the cult BioShock series fell into production hell. In the summer of 2022, the development was restarted for the fourth time, but there are still many problems in the Cloud Chamber team.

This information was shared by an insider Oops Leaks in your personal microblog. He wrote: “In the summer of 2022, the project was rebooted for the fourth time. The constant changes in development teams and concepts do not bode well for the future of the series. The setting will probably remain the same, but the game is currently undergoing a major rewrite.”

According to the source, work at Cloud Chamber is poorly structured. Many assignments are performed by contract employees and then redone by less-skilled in-house professionals. The latter often lack experience, although the requirements usually indicate 3 to 7 years of experience. Why such people got into positions is not clear.

The problems didn’t end there. Quebec’s Bill 96, which requires business to be conducted in French, has added to Cloud Chamber’s troubles. And the scriptwriters of the studio for the entire time of development could not write a decent story. According to Oops Leaks, this was the main reason for the next reboot.

Other information from an insider

  • At each of the iterations of the new BioShock, the surroundings changed. For example, in the previous two versions, they planned to send users to the twin cities and the Arctic settlement.
  • A year after the fourth reboot, the situation seems to have returned to normal. Take-Two Interactive’s latest report mentioned that the game is still slated for release in fiscal 2025 and that the Cloud Chamber trademark has been renewed.
  • However, an insider believes that the BioShock sequel is still in production hell. And if the game is not announced this summer, it will not be released by the mentioned date.
  • “Bad management, lack of confidence in financial success and dubious staff decisions are the reasons why the development of this game is so difficult and takes so long. The lack of any significant updates or announcements only creates more confusion about the future of the game,” summed up Oops Leaks.
