Zelensky reacted to the results of the elections in Turkey

He said he looked forward to further strengthening the strategic partnership for the benefit of both countries.

President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his election victory.

The address of the head of state was published in the microblog Twitter. In addition, the president added that he was looking forward to further strengthening the strategic partnership for the benefit of our countries, as well as strengthening cooperation for the security and stability of Europe.

“I congratulate Turkish President Erdogan on his victory in the presidential elections,” Zelensky said.

Elections in Turkey: results

As UNIAN reported earlier, Erdogan served as prime minister from 2003 to 2014 and as president for the past 9 years.

For the first time in Erdogan’s 20 years in office, opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had a chance to win.

Today, May 28, the second round of elections took place. During the day, footage appeared on the network of Erdogan distributing money and gifts to his supporters. During the counting of votes, a video was published in which the politician sings a winning song. Media write, he also said that “he will rule the country for the next five years.”

Subsequently, the final results of the vote count were announced by the chairman of the Central Electoral Commission, Ahmet Yener. Erdogan won and again became the president of Turkey.
