AMD announced the Radeon PRO W7000 series of workstation graphics cards built on the high-performance, energy-efficient RDNA 3 architecture.

The Radeon PRO W7900 and Radeon PRO W7800 graphics cards are the world’s first models built on AMD’s advanced chiplet design and the first to support DisplayPort 2.1 to work with next-generation displays.

These are AMD’s most powerful professional accelerators to date. While the Radeon PRO W7900 delivers up to 1.5x the average performance of the previous generation, both cards offer better performance per dollar than the competition for demanding professional and creative applications, AMD emphasized in the announcement of the new products.

Key features of the Radeon PRO W7000 include:

• AMD RDNA 3 architecture and chiplet design – this means higher performance and greater efficiency than the RDNA 2 architecture. The new compute units with RDNA 3 share resources between rendering, AI and raytracing to offer approximately 50% more raytracing performance per compute unit compared to the previous generation

• Accelerations with artificial intelligence and raytracing second generation – new AI instructions and increased throughput with AI deliver over 2x the performance of the previous RDNA 2 architecture, while second-generation ray tracing technology delivers significantly higher performance than the previous generation of graphics cards.

• AMD Radiance Display Engine with DisplayPort 2.1 support – supports the highest resolutions and over 68 billion colors, as well as higher refresh rate displays than the RDNA 2 architecture and competitive offerings. Video outputs support next-generation displays and multi-monitor configuration options, creating an immersive visual environment.

• Certified for leading professional applications – AMD continues to work with leading professional application vendors to ensure that Radeon PRO graphics cards are built for demanding 24/7 environments and tested to the highest standards, with a balance between performance and stability.

The Radeon PRO W7000 series graphics cards are expected in major retail chains from the second quarter of 2023. The Radeon PRO W7900 model will be available at an MSRP of $3,999, while the Radeon PRO W7800 will cost $2,499.

AMD’s new professional graphics cards will enter workstations from OEMs and system integrators in the second half of 2023, the company said.
