Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out counter-offensive operations on three sectors of the front – ISW
In particular, the Ukrainian military carried out a “limited but still significant attack” in the western part of the Zaporozhye region on the night of June 7-8.

The Ukrainian military has allegedly carried out counter-offensive operations with varying results on at least three sectors of the front as part of a broader counter-offensive effort that has been unfolding since Sunday, June 4.
This is reported in a new report by analysts at the Institute for the Study of War. In particular, Ukrainian forces have switched from defensive to offensive operations in the Bakhmut direction and are advancing from 200 meters to almost two kilometers on the flanks of the city.
“Since June 4, Ukrainian troops have achieved tactical success during limited localized counterattacks in the western part of Donetsk region near the border of Donetsk-Zaporozhye region. In addition, Ukrainian troops launched an attack in the west of Zaporozhye region on the night of June 7-8, but do not seem to made progress as of the time of publication of the report.
According to ISW, the Ukrainian military carried out a “limited but still significant attack” in the western part of the Zaporozhye region on the night of June 7-8. Russian forces apparently defended themselves against this attack in a doctrinal manner and likely recovered their original positions as of June 8, analysts say.
The ISW report also notes that on June 8, Ukrainian troops allegedly lost certain equipment provided by the West. At the same time, it is noted that such losses are inevitable during any military activities and are not an indicator of the future progress of Ukraine’s counteroffensive.
“The Russian Ministry of Defense responded to the Ukrainian attack with an uncharacteristic degree of coherence and praised the units of the Southern Military District for repelling the attack and recovering lost positions… It appears that Russian forces have implemented their official tactical defensive doctrine in response to Ukrainian attacks southwest of Orekhov,” – write to ISW.
At the same time, it is noted that the attacks of our troops in this part of the Zaporozhye region on June 8 do not reflect the full scope of Ukrainian capabilities in the current counteroffensive.
War in Ukraine – news
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that on the morning of June 4, the Armed Forces of Ukraine went on a counteroffensive in the South Donetsk direction. The Russian terrorist Girkin also said that fierce battles were taking place in the Zaporozhye direction near the city of Orekhovo, but did not rule out that this could be a counteroffensive. But he added that he perceives this as a deceptive maneuver.
However, NSDC Secretary Aleksey Danilov noted that Russia confuses certain successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the battlefield with the start of a counteroffensive. According to him, the counteroffensive has not begun, and that the Ukrainians will definitely see the start of the corresponding actions.
